About Tigullio

In 1952

The freediving record in Italy is 39 meters (128 feet). The Gonzatti Diving Sports Association in Genoa, the only club for enthusiasts in Italy, founds “Pesca Sport”, the first monthly dedicated to diving. “La Gazzetta dello Sport” directed by Gianni Brera, discovers and begins to record the exploit of these new athletes. In Milan, the Goggler Club organizes the first diving corse in the pool, and in Nervi, at the Hotel Savoia Beeler, the Vacation Diving school is born. Diving is practiced by real athletes, with equipment created by ingenious enthusiasts for their personal use and then, perhaps, for production and sale. The most passionates among them become small entrepreneurs, convinced that soon, along the eight thousand kilometers of coastline, everyone will want to experience the thrill of the dive. In the fervor of those years along the Eastern Riviera, Tigullio Sub was born not far from Genoa. Diving enthusiasts who caught a glimpse of a chance to live the sea, dreaming up new products to use under water, with courage and creatività, developing increasingly functional and appealing products, and helping transform diving into an increasingly accesile and viable sport.
